Choosing Your Colors and Clay

The base glazes are organized by row, and the overlay (drip) glazes by column.

Clay Types

Each combination of base + overlay glaze contains four tiles, always organized from left to right:

1) Porcelain | 2) Dappled Smokey Grey | 3) Light Speckle Off-White | 4) Deep Earthy Brown

Each glaze combo differs when used on the various clay types.

Individual Tiles

Each tile contains three areas, arranged vertically:

The top of the tile is the overlay (drip) glaze. This is what the drips of color will look like on the vase.

The middle of the tile is the base glaze. This is what the majority (“background”) of the vase will look like.

The bottom of the tile is what the unglazed, exposed clay looks like.

Glaze Style

Choose to have your drip vase made with one of two glaze styles:

Fully Coated: the base glaze fully coats the interior and exterior of the vase

Exposed: the base glaze fully coats the interior of the vase, and partially covers the exterior

Some Base Glaze Examples

Here are eight example sets of tiles, each with the base glaze clearly shown in the middle section.

The middle section of these tiles are indicators of what each base glaze will look like on your vase.
